I see you

A cold north wind blows

Across fields of snowy white

Like waves of the sea it rolls

Lit by the moon in the night.

Pound of hooves on earth

Muscles taut like a chord

Man and beast move as one

Lies

You strut around town

Like you own the place

Trying not to blend in

With every other face

Beanie pulled low

Texting on your phone

In a crowd of people

But in your world, all alone

Afraid of conformity

Sick of the status quo

Striving for individuality

You push when they pull

Don't let them see you

When the sun goes down

When your self-inflicted pain

Leaves you bleeding on the ground

Pretend it doesn't matter

Pretend you don't care

Nobody understands

And life is just unfair

But while you pull away

Giving up the chance to try

Just remember it's not worth it

Believing in a lie.

I've prided myself

On being strong

Levelheaded, smart
